Updates on Rocinha
After a crazy few days, when Rio announced they were going to invade and Nem (Rocinhas head drug trafficker) announced he was going to resist, things have settled. On Sunday the take over began and despite drug traffickers spilling oil on streets to stop police from entering, things went smoothly. Nem was caught a few days before trying to flee in the trunk of a car with his lawyer and a diplomat from the Republic of Congo. Rumor is that he was trying to escape to Africa, since drug traffickers who flee to other parts of South America are usually caught.
